Design of Equipment for Storing and Discharging Bulk Materials

Hoppers, silos, bins and bunkers are widely used in industry for storing bulk solids materials. To ensure regular discharge from these storage systems, it is important to understand the flow characteristics of the materials being handled, and to ensure that the bins have been designed accordingly.
This 2 day course has been developed with specification writers and equipment designers/suppliers in mind. Practical and ’hands-on’ exercises will feature in the course structure.

* How to characterise bulk materials using firmly established methods and the latest test equipment;
* How to use shear cell measurements to design for reliable discharge;

The content of the course will also be of relevance to engineers that wish to be brought up to speed with equipment and operational best practice relating to bulk handling.
