In 1971 Gerard Bakker broke into the huge market that existed for the practical application of the principles of magnetism. He set up a company known as Bakker Magneten B.V. Within the growth market for the practical application of the principles of magnetism this family company went on to become a European market leader in the field of permanent magnets and magnet systems. Virtually from the start exports accounted for a sizeable and increasing proportion of the turnover. And with the development of an extensive distribution and service network in EIn order to be able to cater for the increasing demand for local service and support, the company set up branch offices in France (1987), Great Britain (1988), Belgium (1989)urope, the United States and the Far East the company engaged in a worldwide operation.
